Hi Feeling: A Sweet Typeface for Creative Projects

There I was, staring at a blank brand board, trying to find the right visual voice for a new boutique coffee shop. The client wanted something warm, approachable, and a little playful—something that felt like a friendly greeting. That’s when I reached for Hi Feeling, a cute, thin lettered and quirky handwritten font that promised to bring a sense of life to any design.

Visual Characteristics and Personality

Hi Feeling has a distinct personality. Its letters are soft, with subtle swashes and uneven strokes that give it a handcrafted feel. It’s not overly ornate, but it carries a whimsical energy that feels fresh and modern. The font is perfect for brands looking to convey a sense of warmth and creativity without being too loud or distracting.

The thin weight makes it ideal for headlines, logos, and display purposes. It doesn’t have the boldness of a typical headline font, but its charm makes up for it. When paired with more structured typefaces, it adds a nice contrast that keeps designs from feeling too rigid.

Real-World Testing in Branding Projects

I tested Hi Feeling on a logo draft for the coffee shop. The script worked well as a secondary element, complementing a more straightforward sans-serif for the business name. On a brand board, it added a personal touch that made the overall look feel more cohesive and intentional.

When placed on a packaging mockup, Hi Feeling brought a sense of authenticity to the design. It looked natural on labels and tags, giving the products a handmade, artisanal vibe. On a business card, it stood out without being overwhelming, making the contact information feel more memorable.

For a website header, Hi Feeling provided a refreshing alternative to standard fonts. It wasn’t the best choice for body text, but as a heading, it caught the eye and helped establish a unique visual identity. In social media layouts, it added a fun, casual tone that resonated well with the target audience.

Strengths and Limitations

Hi Feeling shines as a display or accent font. It’s great for short phrases, logos, and headings where its personality can be fully expressed. However, it’s not suited for long blocks of text or small sizes, where the thin strokes might become hard to read.

It also works best in informal or creative contexts. For corporate or high-end branding, it might feel too casual. That said, when used intentionally, it can add a human touch to otherwise sterile designs.

One thing to keep in mind is that Hi Feeling’s style may not appeal to everyone. Some designers might find it too quirky or inconsistent. But for the right project, it’s a font that can make a strong impression.

Practical Guidance for Designers

If you’re considering using Hi Feeling in your work, start by testing it in different contexts. Try it on a logo, a tagline, or a social media graphic. See how it interacts with other elements and whether it aligns with the brand’s tone.

Font pairing is key. Hi Feeling pairs well with serif or sans-serif fonts that offer a contrasting structure. A clean, modern sans-serif can balance its softness, while a classic serif can add a touch of elegance. Avoid pairing it with other script fonts unless you want a more chaotic effect.

Check the font’s available styles, ligatures, and alternates. Hi Feeling likely includes variations that can help fine-tune its appearance. If it supports multilingual characters, that’s a bonus for international projects.

Commercial Use and Licensing

Before using Hi Feeling in client work, always review the licensing terms. Make sure it’s allowed for commercial use, especially if you're designing for print, web, or digital products. Some fonts have restrictions on resale, modification, or embedding, so it’s important to understand what you’re permitted to do.

Hi Feeling is part of the Script Amp collection, which means it fits into a broader range of typographic options. As a premium font, it offers quality and uniqueness that can elevate your design work when used appropriately.
